consumer report

i miss ralph nader...did he mellow...or just get tired?

the reason i ask this is summed up in two words...customer dissatisfaction!!!

i'm 40 (i know...some of you knew that) and up till now i have not exactly been a poster child for consumerism but dammit! i buy shit sometimes and when i do fork out money that i often don't actually have...i expect a certain level of quality in both the product and the service.

now if i spend 2 bucks on something, i don't fuss if it doesn't quite do the job it's supposed to...i throw it out (or find another use for it) and get on with the task at hand. but if i am spending $50 bucks...or a couple of hundred or more...well it better do what it's friggin' supposed to or i am returning it...simple as that.

and if i am spending money and feel the need to contact the customer service department of the retailer or manufacturer of the product...i expect them to at least pretend that they give a shit.

hence this new section.

it's a sort of consumer report concept...i haven't worked out the details (i just got off the phone with 'vivitar corporation' and started writing so i haven't quite thought it through) but i have this vague idea about...'ian the doghouse' and 'ian the good books' ...a section at which to lodge complaints and/or praise for retailers and manufacturers.

ie; vivitar would have 'pride' of place 'ian the doghouse' whereas thus far, sears would be 'ian the good books'

get it?

anyway...is this sort of soapbox/better business bureau thing something that you might find useful for venting your spleen?

are you like me in thinking that there is plenty of room for complaint re;customer service but really wouldn't hold your breath waiting to hear a lot of kudos for kapitalists?

would you like to prove me wrong (or right??)

email me if you have a complaint/kudo...just don't send me any sales letters..it's not that i am hard to impress as a consumer...it's just so easy to be unimpressed.
