poetry

so...not sure how much of my stuff will end up here and how much will have to wait till i have put my poetry anthology together...for now we'll all have to be satisfied with whatever ends up on these pages - if only because i haven't gone to bed yet and it's almost 1:30 in the afternoon...

i think i am getting too old for this 'all-nighter' crap!

while we're on the subject of poetry...

on the fifteenth of this month (july) i will be doing some poetry reading at the 'showcase of the performing arts' (s.o.p.a.) in the local 'heritage theatre'.
there will be about 6 poets all up (we had a meeting on sunday and read through our stuff) and it would seem that i am the only one whose work doesn't involve some sort of bucolic theme - waxing poetic about caribou and hay barns and the like.

which, in itself wouldn't be bad but the ones i will be reading are more your drug induced urban punk kinda stuff...'hard-hitting' the other poets called it.

the next day i got this email from someone

"Your work was described to me as "street smart" and "disturbing." I'll be
there -- I'm covering the scene as SOPA's publicist -- and thanks for
putting the word out to your readers about this event. Information is also
available on the website, www.heritageplayhouse.com."

which is not to say that it is ALL gritty verses about street culture... I write poetical stuff and love poems and stuff i don't even know WHAT it's about...stuff like this...(or...some love poems)
